10 best mobile push notification servicesfor apps (2026)

Compared on what mobile push needs around the send: iOS, Android and cross-platform SDKs, rich formats and Live Activities, Android delivery, per-user data, who on your team can run it, what an agent can do in it, ease of setup and pricing.

By , SuprSendOct 16, 2026

Your app needs to reach people when it is closed and the phone is locked: an order shipped, a payment failed, a teammate mentioned them. On Android that message travels through Firebase Cloud Messaging. On iPhones and iPads it travels through Apple’s push service. Each has its own device tokens, payload rules, permission prompt and delivery data, and each phone maker and OS version adds rules of its own.

A mobile push notification service sits on top of both. It registers every phone and tablet on the user’s profile through its iOS, Android and cross-platform SDKs, renders images, buttons and sounds the same way on both platforms, and reports what happened to each push for each user. Look for three more things: push that hands off to email or an in-app message when it goes unopened, transactional and marketing messages run from one place, and a setup your engineers, product and growth teams and their agents can all change without an app release.

What a mobile push notification service does

A mobile push notification service takes an event from your backend, finds every phone and tablet the user has registered, builds the right payload for iOS and Android, and hands it to Apple’s push service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). Its SDKs in your app register devices, show the notification and report back when it arrives and when it is tapped. APNs and FCM stay underneath whichever service you choose, so you still create a Firebase project and an APNs key. If you also send web push to browsers, the best push notification services for mobile and web covers both.

Take one use case: when an order ships, push it to the user’s iPhone and Android tablet with the product image and a “Track order” button, email them if neither push is opened within 30 minutes, and report the result against the user. To run it, the service needs both device tokens on one profile, a template that renders the image and button on iOS and Android, delivery and tap events tied back to the user, and the user’s choice for that category. Sent straight through FCM and APNs, all four live in your code.

Sending through FCM and APNs directly vs a push notification service

What iOS and Android decide before a push shows

A push that APNs or FCM accepts can still arrive silently, late or not at all. The phone decides, based on what the user allowed and how your payload is set.

RuleiOS (APNs)Android (FCM)
PermissionThe system prompt appears the first time the app asks; later requests show no prompt, and the user changes the choice in settings. Provisional authorization delivers quietly to Notification Center without asking.Since Android 13, the app asks at runtime for the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission, and notifications are off for new installs until the user allows them.
Focus and importanceAn interruption level of passive, active, time-sensitive or critical; time-sensitive breaks through Focus when the app has that capability, and critical alerts need an entitlement Apple grants. Each notification belongs to a channel whose importance sets sound and heads-up display; the app sets it once and the user can change it.
What the user can turn offAlerts, sounds, badges and lock screen display, per app.Any single channel, such as promotions, while others stay on.
Phone offlineAPNs stores one notification per app, usually the latest, for up to 30 days or until the expiry you set; a collapse ID replaces an earlier push.FCM keeps messages for up to four weeks by default; messages with the same collapse key replace each other.
BatteryPriority 10 sends at once; priority 5 waits for the phone's power conditions.High priority wakes a phone in Doze; FCM can lower the priority of an app whose high-priority messages show no notification.
Payload size4 KB.4 KB for data messages.

Ask any service which of these its template exposes: interruption level, Android channel, collapse ID, expiry and priority. Each one is a field in the payload, and a service that hides it leaves you with its defaults.

Advanced push features in FCM and APNs

FCM and APNs each carry some rich formats as payload fields, and several only work after your app declares them. These are the ones mobile teams hit first.

FeatureFCM (Android) by defaultAPNs (iOS) by defaultWhat your app must add

Action buttonsNo button field in the Android payload.A category field names a set of buttons.Android: up to three actions built in code from a data message; iOS: categories registered at launch.
Icons and colourIcon and colour fields; without a default, Android shows the app icon in white. No icon field.Android: the icon drawable bundled in the app.
SoundDefault sound, or a file named in the payload.Default sound, or a file named in the payload.Custom sound files bundled in the app.

Live ActivitiesSends to an iOS live activity token.A liveactivity push type.ActivityKit in the app, activity tokens synced to your server, and a state that matches the app's model.

What to check before you call a tool a mobile push notification service

  1. 01Does it handle multiple devices? One user can hold several phones and tablets; a send names the user, and a logout detaches that device so the next person to sign in does not get the last user's push.
  2. 02Which SDKs? Native iOS and Android, and the cross-platform frameworks you use (React Native, Flutter, Expo), each registering tokens and showing the notification.
  3. 03Does it clean up tokens? When FCM returns UNREGISTERED or APNs returns 410, the tool flags or removes that token without code from you.
  4. 04Rich formats from a template? Images, buttons, sounds, silent and grouped notifications set per platform, the Android channel and iOS interruption level, and a clear rule for showing a push while the app is open.
  5. 05What does it report, and against whom? Delivered, opened or clicked and, if you need it, dismissed, for each user and each message, beyond device-level totals.
  6. 06Opt-outs by category? A user can stop promotions and keep security alerts, and every send checks that choice.
  7. 07What happens to an unopened push? The tool can send email, SMS or an in-app message after a delay, and cancel it once the push is opened.

Two products get mistaken for mobile push services. Expo’s push service is free, forwards messages to FCM and APNs, takes up to 100 messages per request and 600 notifications per second per project, and works through the expo-notifications library in Expo and React Native apps; tokens per user, preferences, templates and analytics stay in your code. AWS End User Messaging Push, the renamed push side of Amazon Pinpoint, is free for the first million pushes a month and $1 per million after that, with no segments, campaigns or templates; AWS ends support for Pinpoint itself on 30 October 2026.

How we compared these tools

We tried each of these tools, and read each vendor’s pricing page, push documentation, iOS, Android and cross-platform SDK docs, agent and MCP documentation and trust page, plus each tool’s G2 reviews and compare pages, in October 2026. What we compared on: feature depth, use cases covered, billing model, developer experience, AI authoring, and ease of use for technical and non-technical team members. For mobile push, we added five questions: which iOS, Android and cross-platform SDKs each tool covers, which rich formats and Live Activities it renders without app code, what it does about Android delivery and Huawei phones, what it reports for each user, and what happens when a push is not opened.

The market sits in two layers, and the list below is grouped the same way.

Layer 1: delivery services

FCM and APNs carry the message to the phone. Amazon SNS wraps them, with Amazon Device Messaging and Baidu, in one AWS API. They deliver; tokens, rendering choices, analytics and who receives what are up to your code.

Layer 2: push and engagement services

SuprSend, OneSignal, MoEngage, Airship, Pushwoosh, Braze and CleverTap are complete push solutions: iOS, Android and cross-platform SDKs that register and render, templates for rich formats, token management and analytics, on top of layer 1. They differ in what else they run around push, from marketing journeys to transactional workflows across email, SMS and in-app.

Push and engagement services

1.SuprSendSuprSend

Best for running transactional, product and engagement notifications from one platform, with mobile push that ships with SDKs, rich templates and per-user analytics, and hands off to other channels when it goes unopened.

SuprSend's architecture: your API calls, SDKs, CDPs and data warehouses feed workflows, preferences, templates and observability, which send through email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, Slack and Microsoft Teams providers and the in-app inbox

What SuprSend is

SuprSend is a US company, founded in 2022, that runs every notification a product sends from one platform, from transactional alerts to engagement campaigns. Engineering, product and growth teams work in it alongside their agents.

How SuprSend handles mobile push. SuprSend sends Android push through your FCM project and iOS push through APNs with your .p8 key. The mobile SDKs for Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter and Expo register the device token when the user is identified, and the iOS and Expo SDKs detach it at logout; adding mobile push as a channel takes your FCM project and APNs key. A user can hold several tokens per platform, and SuprSend flags tokens that FCM reports as invalid. User properties sit on the same profile as nested JSON. Android templates carry a banner image, small and large icons, up to three buttons with links, sound, silent, sticky, auto-dismiss and group settings; iOS templates carry images and GIFs. SuprSend reports Delivered, Seen and Clicked for Android and iOS push, per message in the logs, with an export of user-level records. A smart routing step tries one channel at a time and stops once the push is delivered, seen or clicked, so the email only goes out if it has to. The same JavaScript and React SDKs add web push when you need it.

A complete orchestration engine

TemplatingEditors for every channel, variants by tenant, user or language, version history with rollback, translation files.
ObservabilityStep-by-step workflow logs and message logs with the provider's error; 30 days Free, 90 paid; warehouse sync.
WorkflowsA workflow engine with branches, conditions, delays, throttling, data fetch and webhook steps, sends in each user's timezone; one send step reaches the user's channels in your order; built visually, through the CLI or by an agent; version history and rollback.
User preferencesOpt in or out per category and channel, in a preference centre you embed or host.
SegmentationStatic lists, and dynamic lists that update as users match their criteria, built from user properties and events, a SQL query on your warehouse, Mixpanel or Amplitude cohorts, CSV or the API; broadcast to a list or start a workflow when a user joins it.
In-app inboxReal-time bell and feed, read state synced across devices, tabs, toasts, per-tenant feeds, six client SDKs, embedded or headless.
Batching and digestsCollect events over a window and send one message, at a time the user picks.
Retries and fallbackBring your own providers; if one does not confirm delivery, the next one sends.
Per-tenant setupsEach of your customers gets its own branding, templates, preferences and provider routing.
Developer experienceDevelopment, staging and production environments, test mode, a CLI that versions workflows and templates in your repo and promotes staging to production from your CI/CD pipeline, type generation, OpenAPI and Postman; six client SDKs and four backend SDKs.
DeploymentSuprSend cloud with 99.9% uptime, or your own VPC, on-prem or BYOC with vendor support; SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, CPRA.

How your team operates it

In SuprSend and Slack

The SuprSend agent builds a workflow from a description, drafts the copy for each channel and traces why a send failed. Product and growth work here and in Slack.

In your own agent

Connect the hosted MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client and sign in with your SuprSend account. Its 92 tools in 18 groups build, test and publish workflows and push templates, manage users, tenants, lists and preferences, send tests and broadcasts, and query delivery and engagement data. Writes and sends wait for your approval.

In your IDE or codebase

The CLI pushes and pulls workflows, templates, schemas and translation files, promotes staging to production and generates TypeScript types, so a bulk change is one command reviewed in a pull request.

What an agent can do with mobile push. SuprSend’s MCP server has 92 tools in 18 groups, from users, tenants and vendors to workflows, templates, translations, preferences, broadcasts and data. An agent can write an Android and iOS push template, validate and publish it, add it to a workflow with an email fallback, run a test send to your own phone, and then answer “how many users tapped last week’s push” with a read-only query over delivery and engagement data. In clients that support MCP Apps, those answers come back as charts and message previews.

Pricing. SuprSend is free up to 10,000 notifications a month; Essentials starts at $100 a month for 50,000, then $2 per 1,000; Business starts at $250 a month for 50,000, then $5 per 1,000; Enterprise custom.

Where it stops. SuprSend’s docs list no iOS Live Activities and no Huawei Push Kit, so mobile push covers phones with FCM or APNs. SuprSend does not set the iOS badge count. Against an engagement platform at consumer scale, SuprSend has fewer capabilities in predictive send time.

Verdict. Choose SuprSend when mobile push is one channel of the notifications your product sends and you want SDKs, templates, per-user analytics and fallback behind it, run by your team and its agents. SuprSend vs FCM compares it with sending through Firebase Cloud Messaging directly.

2.OneSignal

Best for app teams that want mobile push campaigns and Live Activities running quickly, with a free starting plan.

OneSignal's homepage: lifecycle marketing campaigns with a delivered and click-through-rate chart and an email preview

Where it goes deep. OneSignal began with push. Native SDKs cover iOS, Android, Huawei and Amazon Fire OS, and cross-platform SDKs cover React Native, Expo, Flutter, Unity, .NET MAUI, Cordova, Capacitor and FlutterFlow. Push carries images, GIFs, action buttons, custom sounds, grouping and data-only silent messages, and iOS Live Activities and in-app messages come with mobile push. The SDK shows notifications in the foreground by default. Reports show sent, delivered, clicked and failed, and paid plans add Confirmed Receipt, which the SDK reports from the device; an audience activity view lists each subscription with timestamps. OneSignal’s hosted MCP server has 43 tools that send push, email and SMS and manage segments, templates, users and Live Activities.

Where it stops. Billing counts every mobile MAU, including devices that never opted in to push. Data tags are strings only, 6 to 100 per user by plan, and segments are capped at 6, 10 or 20 below Enterprise. OneSignal has no hosted preference centre; you build one on tags and per-channel subscription switches. Frequency capping covers push on selected paid plans and drops sends over the cap. Active journeys are capped at 3, 5 or 20 below Enterprise.

Pick it if push campaigns to app users are the main job and marketing runs them.

Verdict. OneSignal covers iOS, Android and Huawei widely and adds Live Activities and an MCP server. Product teams that need category preferences or an inbox build those around it.

3.MoEngage

Best for consumer apps with large Android audiences that want rich push formats inside marketing journeys.

MoEngage's homepage: an agentic customer engagement platform, with agent cards for in-app templates and per-user decisioning

Where it goes deep. MoEngage’s push templates include image carousels of two to five images, banners with text overlay, countdown timers with progress bars and silent background updates, with buttons that deep-link, call, share or copy. Push Amplification redelivers Android pushes when FCM delivery fails, and Push Amplification Plus sends directly to eligible devices, which MoEngage built with Huawei, Oppo and Vivo. Huawei Push Kit is supported, and iOS Live Activities can be broadcast through the API. Analytics report attempted, sent, impressions and clicks per device. Flows add frequency capping and do-not-disturb windows, and Best Time to Send picks a window per user. MoEngage’s hosted MCP server drafts push and email campaigns, builds segments and pulls analytics; publishing stays a human action.

Where it stops. Push preferences are an admin filter that excludes users, with no categories users choose. Cards and WhatsApp are paid add-ons. MoEngage publishes no prices and has no free plan.

Pick it if Android delivery rates and rich formats drive your engagement numbers.

Verdict. MoEngage gives marketing teams carousels, timers and Android delivery tools in one engagement suite. Transactional push and per-category preferences sit outside its focus.

4.Airship

Best for large consumer brands that run app engagement on contract with a dedicated team.

Airship's homepage: a cross-channel customer experience platform to accelerate loyalty, revenue and growth

Where it goes deep. Airship sent the first third-party iPhone push in 2009, as Urban Airship. Its Message Center is an app inbox that stores rich messages with read, unread and deleted state per user, up to 250 messages that expire after a year by default. Airship supports iOS Live Activities and Android Live Updates. Optimal Send Time predicts the best moment for each user’s push, and Message Limits cap sends per channel and per category. Message reports count sends, direct opens and influenced opens, and per-user events stream out through Real-Time Data Streaming. Airship’s MCP server runs locally and looks up users and segments, validates payloads and sends push.

Where it stops. On iOS, the Airship SDK silences notifications that arrive while the app is open unless you set presentation options. Airship publishes no prices and lists no free plan.

Pick it if you run a high-volume consumer app and want predictive timing, Live Activities and a mobile inbox from one vendor.

Verdict. Airship gives mobile marketing teams an inbox, Live Activities, Android Live Updates and predictive timing in one contract. Expect a sales process, since it publishes no prices.

5.Pushwoosh

Best for consumer apps that want push campaigns priced per active user, or need them on their own servers.

Pushwoosh's homepage: one platform for the complete user journey, from app install to repeat purchase

Where it goes deep. Pushwoosh sends push to iOS, Android, Huawei and visionOS, with SDKs for Flutter, React Native, Expo, Unity, .NET MAUI, Capacitor and Cordova. iOS Live Activities include push-to-start, and Android Live Updates work on Android 16 and later. Push carries images, an iOS carousel and action buttons, and the iOS SDK shows a banner while the app is open by default. Statistics show sent, delivered, opened and errors, with a per-device export covering 30 days. A Message Inbox works in mobile apps, and global frequency capping limits sends per channel over windows of up to 30 days. Pushwoosh offers on-premise deployment, including air-gapped networks, and a private VPC.

Where it stops. Pushwoosh groups a person’s devices under a User ID, counts each email address as a device, and caps a User ID at 20 devices. Pushwoosh’s docs list no server SDKs, so backend teams call its HTTPS JSON API directly. Its Messaging MCP server is in beta and exposes one tool that sends a message.

Pick it if you need push campaigns and Live Activities inside your own infrastructure.

Verdict. Pushwoosh pairs wide mobile SDK coverage with an on-premise and air-gapped option. Backend teams work against the raw API.

6.Braze

Best for enterprise marketing teams running mobile push inside cross-channel lifecycle journeys.

Braze's homepage: a customer engagement platform for marketers, with a loyalty push notification on a phone

Where it goes deep. Braze, which began as Appboy in 2011, sends push to iOS, Android and Huawei, with iOS rich notifications that carry GIFs, images, video and audio, plus Push Stories. Live Activities can start remotely on iOS 17.2 and later. Push reports count deliveries, bounces, direct opens and influenced opens, and a bounce unsubscribes the user from push. Intelligent Timing picks a send time per user for push, email and SMS, and quiet hours hold messages until a window ends. Canvas journeys add experiment paths and decision splits. Braze’s remote MCP server reads analytics and creates templates and content blocks.

Where it stops. Braze’s developer docs list no official CLI. HIPAA coverage applies only to a separate HIPAA cluster. Billing counts monthly active users on a quoted contract.

Pick it if mobile push is one part of a lifecycle marketing programme across many channels.

Verdict. Braze gives large marketing teams journeys, timing and experimentation with push inside them. Product teams sending transactional push tend to find it heavier than they need.

7.CleverTap

Best for consumer apps with large Android audiences that want analytics, segments and send-time optimisation around push.

CleverTap's homepage: live 1:1 personalization with CleverAI, and cards for events, product launches and case studies

Where it goes deep. CleverTap pairs product analytics with engagement. RenderMax renders an Android notification on the device when FCM delivery fails, for native Android and React Native apps. Best Time picks one of 12 two-hour windows per user for push, email, SMS, WhatsApp and web push campaigns. Rich push carries images, video, audio, GIFs and buttons, and App Inbox, journeys and A/B tests are on every plan. Client SDKs include iOS, Android, Flutter, React Native with an Expo plugin, Cordova and Unity. Data stays in one of six regions, among them Europe, India, the US and the UAE.

Where it stops. CleverTap has no free plan, only a 30-day trial on Core, and Pro and Ultimate list no price. Frequency caps are set per channel. Its docs describe no iOS Live Activities. The MCP server is in private beta and creates campaign drafts that a person publishes in CleverTap.

Pick it if Android delivery rates decide your push results.

Verdict. CleverTap suits growth teams that want analytics, segments and Android delivery tools in one consumer app suite. It starts with a 30-day trial, and the larger plans have no listed price.

Delivery services

Every service above sends through these. Using them directly means your backend stores tokens and builds payloads, and your app renders rich formats and reports what happened. SuprSend’s guide to the parts of a notification service lists what that takes, and the notification evaluation returns a blueprint and a build vs buy cost estimate.

8.Firebase Cloud Messaging

Best for sending push to Android and iOS from your own backend at no cost.

The Firebase Cloud Messaging product page: send notifications across platforms to drive re-engagement and retention

Where it goes deep. FCM is free on every Firebase plan. FCM delivers to Android directly and to Apple devices through APNs once you upload your APNs key. A notification message shows in the Android system tray when the app is in the background, with an image URL, icon, colour, sound and channel set in the payload. FCM can also start, update and end iOS Live Activities through a live activity token. Topics take unlimited subscribers, and a project’s default quota is 600,000 messages a minute. The Firebase MCP server can send a message to a token or a topic.

Where it stops. In the foreground, an Android notification goes to your code, and action buttons need a data message and app code. Delivery data is limited: aggregates for Android, and a BigQuery export with Google Analytics that keys each message to an app install. FCM has no user profile, templates, preferences or fallback. You store tokens and prune them yourself: Android registrations expire after 270 days without a connection, and iOS tokens have no such expiry.

Pick it if you send plain-text push and your engineers are happy to own tokens and rendering.

Verdict. FCM is the free delivery layer under most push services, OneSignal's Android push included. It delivers; what the user sees and what you learn about it stay with your code.

9.Apple Push Notification service

Best for reaching Apple devices directly, including Live Activities.

Apple's developer page for Notifications, with a notification on an iPhone lock screen and an Apple Watch

Where it goes deep. APNs reaches iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. Token authentication with a .p8 key covers every push type. APNs supports Live Activities, and since iOS 18 one broadcast push can update every subscriber to a channel. Payloads set the badge, a sound, a thread for grouping, a category for buttons, an interruption level and content-available for silent push.

Where it stops. A 200 response means Apple accepted the push; delivery metrics are aggregate, and the per-notification delivery log works only in the development environment. Opens and dismissals reach you only through app code. iOS shows a push that arrives while the app is open only if your app asks. Buttons need categories registered in the app, and images need a Notification Service Extension.

Pick it if you need Live Activities or Apple-only features and have iOS engineers to build around them.

Verdict. Every push to an Apple device goes through APNs, whichever service sends it. Using it directly gives full control over Apple features and leaves tokens, rendering choices and analytics to your code.

10.Amazon SNS

Best for AWS teams fanning one message out to very large device lists.

Amazon SNS product page: a fully managed pub/sub service for application-to-application and application-to-person messaging

Where it goes deep. Amazon SNS puts one API over APNs, FCM, Amazon Device Messaging, Baidu, WNS and MPNS through platform applications and endpoints. A standard topic holds up to 12.5 million subscriptions. When APNs or FCM reports a token as invalid, SNS disables that endpoint. Delivery status logging writes each failure, and a sample of successes, to CloudWatch with the provider’s response.

Where it stops. SNS has no templates, user profiles, preferences or SDK for rendering; you map users to endpoints yourself. Payloads are still capped by the provider, 4 KB for APNs and FCM.

Pick it if your stack is on AWS and you need a delivery pipe with fan-out.

Verdict. Amazon SNS is a dependable pipe for push at volume inside AWS. Everything about the user and the message stays in your code.

When FCM and APNs alone are enough

  • Fire and forget works for you: you send the push and never need to know whether it arrived, whether it was opened, or whether to follow up.
  • Your pushes are plain text: a title and a line of body, with no images, buttons, custom sounds or Live Activities.
  • You do not need delivery, open or tap data beyond what FCM and APNs report.
  • Your app sends one kind of push, and users manage it through their phone's notification setting.
  • No message ever needs to follow up on email, SMS or in-app, and nobody outside engineering changes the copy.

Teams that go direct end up writing the same glue: a token table per user, pruning on UNREGISTERED and 410, payloads per platform, Android channels, foreground handling, a Notification Service Extension for images, button categories, and event tracking to learn whether anyone opened the push. That code is a hidden cost: your team builds it, maintains it, and pays for it in engineering time. The switch usually comes with the first rich push, the first question about open rates, the first marketing campaign, or the first user who asks to keep alerts and stop promotions. Single-channel vs multi-channel notifications walks through the point where a second channel joins.

How to move to a mobile push notification service

  1. 01Record baselines. Delivery rate, open rate, opt-in rate and invalid-token rate for iOS and Android, so you can compare after the move.
  2. 02List every push you send. Its trigger, audience, payload per platform, Android channel, rich formats and the code path that sends it.
  3. 03Connect your existing credentials. Your FCM service account and APNs .p8 key carry over, so devices need no new permission prompt.
  4. 04Move users, tokens and consent. Add the new SDK in an app release, and import existing tokens onto user profiles through the API with each user's opt-outs, so pushes reach people who have not updated the app yet.
  5. 05Rebuild templates and workflows, highest volume first. Add the fallback channel and the preference category as you go.
  6. 06Run side by side. Send a share of users through the new service and compare against your baselines.
  7. 07Keep the old path for 30 days. Switch it off once most users run the new app version and delivery and opt-out rates hold.

Conclusion

Test any mobile push service on three things: whether its SDKs register every phone and tablet on one user profile, whether it renders the rich push you designed on iOS and Android without app code, and whether it reports delivered, opened and clicked for each user. FCM and APNs deliver the message. A push service decides who gets it, how it looks, and what you learn from it.

SuprSend runs mobile push alongside every other channel your product uses: transactional, product and engagement messages share one workflow engine, one set of preferences and one log, and your engineers, product and growth teams and their agents all work in it. The free plan covers 10,000 notifications a month.

FAQ

Which mobile push notification service is cheapest for 50,000 pushes a month?

FCM and APNs charge nothing per push, and Amazon SNS includes 1 million push deliveries a month free. Among services, units differ. For 50,000 pushes to 10,000 monthly active users: Pushwoosh bills active users, roughly $63 to $70 on its push-only launch offer; SuprSend bills notifications, $100 on Essentials, and a fallback email counts as a second notification; OneSignal Growth comes to $139 at $19 plus $0.012 per mobile MAU. CleverTap Core starts at $85 a month, and MoEngage, Airship and Braze quote prices.

Which mobile push services report delivered, opened and dismissed for each user?

SuprSend reports Delivered, Seen and Clicked per message and exports user-level records. OneSignal reports clicks and, on paid plans, Confirmed Receipt, with a per-subscription activity view. MoEngage counts impressions and clicks per device and records dismissals on iOS. Airship streams per-user events, and Pushwoosh exports per-device statistics for 30 days. FCM and APNs report at device or aggregate level, with opens and dismissals left to your app.

Which push notification services support React Native, Flutter and Expo?

All seven push and engagement services on this list do. SuprSend, OneSignal and Pushwoosh ship React Native, Flutter and Expo SDKs that register tokens and show push. MoEngage, Airship and Braze add Expo through config plugins, and CleverTap's Expo plugin is in public beta. OneSignal and Pushwoosh also cover Unity, .NET MAUI, Cordova and Capacitor. Our guide to React Native push notifications walks through the setup.

Which mobile push services support iOS Live Activities and Android Live Updates?

OneSignal, Airship, Pushwoosh and Braze support iOS Live Activities, and Airship and Pushwoosh also support Android Live Updates. MoEngage broadcasts Live Activities through its API. APNs supports them directly, including broadcast updates since iOS 18, and FCM sends to live activity tokens. SuprSend's and CleverTap's docs do not list Live Activities.

Which services push to Huawei phones without Google services?

OneSignal, MoEngage, Airship, Pushwoosh, Braze and CleverTap list Huawei push support, so they reach Huawei phones that ship without Google Mobile Services. Amazon SNS covers Amazon Device Messaging and Baidu. SuprSend sends through FCM and APNs, and its docs list no Huawei Push Kit.

Which push notification services include an in-app inbox?

SuprSend ships an in-app inbox with six client SDKs. Airship has Message Center for iOS and Android, Pushwoosh has a Message Inbox, CleverTap has App Inbox on every plan, Braze has Content Cards, and MoEngage has Cards as a paid add-on. FCM, APNs and Amazon SNS deliver push only and keep no inbox.

Which mobile push services have an MCP server or an agent?

SuprSend's hosted MCP server has 92 tools that build, publish and test workflows and templates, send broadcasts and query delivery data. OneSignal's has 43 tools for sends, segments, templates, users and Live Activities. MoEngage's drafts campaigns and segments, and leaves publishing to a person. Airship's runs locally and sends push. Pushwoosh's, in beta, sends messages. CleverTap's, in private beta, creates drafts. Braze's reads analytics and creates templates.

Can one platform send both transactional and marketing push?

Yes. SuprSend runs transactional alerts and engagement campaigns through the same workflows, preferences and logs, so one opt-out stops promotions everywhere and leaves security alerts on. OneSignal, MoEngage, Airship, Pushwoosh, Braze and CleverTap send both through campaigns and journeys built for marketing teams, with transactional sends triggered through their APIs.

Which mobile push notification services are HIPAA compliant?

SuprSend holds SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA and CPRA, with a HIPAA BAA on Enterprise. OneSignal offers a HIPAA BAA on Enterprise. MoEngage, Pushwoosh and CleverTap say they comply with HIPAA. Braze covers HIPAA on a separate HIPAA cluster. Airship's trust centre lists SOC 2 Type II.

Can I self-host a mobile push notification service?

Yes. Pushwoosh offers on-premise, including air-gapped networks, and a private VPC. SuprSend runs in your own VPC, on-prem or as BYOC on Enterprise, with vendor support. OneSignal, MoEngage, Airship, Braze and CleverTap list no self-hosted option. Delivery still goes through FCM and APNs.

Do I still need FCM and APNs if I use a push notification service?

Yes. Every push service sends Android push through FCM and iOS push through APNs. You create a Firebase project and an APNs key, and the service sends with them. Neither charges per message, but sending to iOS needs an Apple Developer Program membership at $99 a year, so the service's price is the cost you add.

How can I tell whether a tool is really a mobile push notification service?

Ask whether its SDKs register every phone and tablet on one user, whether it cleans up invalid tokens, renders rich formats from a template for iOS and Android, reports delivered and opened per user, honours opt-outs by category, and follows up an unopened push. The seven questions are in the checklist above.
